Ancient East

Rathvilly in County Carlow has a wealth of ancient heritage on its doorstep.

Here you can read about our nearby Dolmens, The Moate, Rathgall Fort, Rathgall Ringfort and even St. Patricks well. While a short distance away in neighbouring Baltinglass (Co. Wicklow) a passage grave rests atop the Baltinglass hill.

Rathvilly was also the home of a King of Leinster in the fifth century A.D. and a mural in the local Catholic church marks depicts the scene of his baptism by St. Patrick.
