Inspired by the Carlow landscape, nature and the sacredness inherent in trees, artist Caroline Cunningham has a lot to offer by way of inspiration and colour.
Discovering her artistic potential later in life, Caroline has been working to develop her creative expression since 1999. She has travelled in India, a trip which inspired her first solo exhibition. Her collection ‘Indian Heartway’ was in such demand that the piece ‘Ganga Dreaming’ remains a popular limited edition print – read more.
Travels in Peru in 2012 & 2013 inspired Caroline to also turn her creativity to writing, hence the start of her blogging career, with a novel and memoir in the pipeline too. Caroline has been short-listed and finalist in Ireland Blog Awards in 2015 & 2016 in a number of categories. Caroline also provides blogging as a marketing service to businesses and is the author of Wild Star Landing and The Village Where I’m From blogs (story/magazine style websites).
In 2015, Caroline’s portrait of Rathvilly local, Ed O’Connell was selected to feature on the panels of Carlow Post Office. Caroline was also commissioned in 2015 to create a piece of art work representing the links between Carlovians in Carlow, London and New York. Her piece entitled ‘Mind The Gap’, was presented in New York on St. Patricks Day by Carlow London Association to its New York counterpart. A poem of the same title accompanied the artwork.
2017 sees the launch of Caroline’s first book of poetry ‘The Whisperings of Nature’. The launch takes place in Carlow Library in April – See Event Details
